MANERVA PRESTON, 4th. child of Ira and Deborah (Goff) Preston, was born Aug. 22, 1828, in Rush, Monroe Co., N. Y., removing to Michigan with her parents in 1837. She married Nov. 7, 1844, John Carlton. They lived and reared their family on the southeast corner of Section 36, Washington Twp., Macomb Co., Mich. Mr. Carlton died March 23, 1875. Mrs. Carlton married (2nd.) Nov. 30, 1889, William Van Tiffin. They made their home at Fenton, Mich.

JUDSON CARLTON, eldest child of John and. Manerva (Preston) Carlton, was born May 4, 1848, in Washington Twp., Macomb Co., Mich. He married Nov. 1, 1876, Minnie Tucker, who was born Jan. 14, 1854.

EMMA D. CARLTON, eldest daughter of Alfred P. and Eliza A. (Preston) Carlton, was born Jan. 28, 1863. She married Jan. 28, 1892, George J. Fuhrmann, of Cleveland, Ohio. He was born Feb. 23, 1863. Mr. Fuhrmann is a marine engineer
