Endangered Cemeteries
Saving Graves says this cemetery has 200 people buried here. I found maybe
50 stones and all that are legible are listed below. It's in such sad
shape, it confirms WHY I do what I do....soon none of these stones will be here
but I will do my best to preserve them in photos before they are gone. If anyone
has a list of who should be here, please contact me!
Cady’s
Corner was a town within Clinton Twp which existed between 1864 and 1906.
"The
village
of Cady, or Cady's Corner, was a small settlement composed chiefly of German farmers
and their families, dating from 1834. It is on
Clinton
River
, in the center of a rich agricultural region, about seventeen miles above
Detroit
, five southwest of
Mt.
Clemens
, the county seat, and near Fraser Station, on the Grand Trunk Railway, to
which depot goods should be shipped. It has a German
Lutheran
Church
and common school."

James Millar, died at his home near Cady’s Corners, in Clinton,
Wednesday, aged 69 years. Mr. Millar was a son of the late Dykes Millar and was
born on the farm where he died. He leaves two sons, Bert and George.
Mt. Clemens Monitor, Aug 28, 1914
Robert Emmet Millar passed from his earthly home August 20th, after a
protracted sickness, aged 72 years. He was confined to bed several weeks
previous to death and suffered greatly, but bore all patiently.
He was the youngest son of Dykes Millar, was born on the old Millar farm,
Cady, Macomb county, August 16th, 1842, and was a life-long resident of this
county. February 22nd, 1865, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Shanley,
of Detroit, and she, with their four remaining children, three daughters and a
son, and seventeen grandchildren are left to mourn the loss of a kind and giving
husband, father, and grandfather. The daughters are: Mrs. Albert Russo, of
Birmingham, Mich., Mrs. F.B. Stevens, (who with her husband lives on the old
homestead), and Mrs. Perry R. Upton, of Detroit. The son is Edward Millar, of
Disco.
Not alone in his family will his loss be felt, but also by a host of friends,
young and old, who have spent many a happy hour in his hospitable home. He was a
life-long Republican. He served his township two terms as clerk, and was school
director 21 years. Internment was in Clinton Grove cemetery.
